Obviously (based on the last few posts) I have gotten the SprintPhoto plugin and my modified wp-mail.php file working the way I want it. Not only that, but I have also bypassed Sprint’s ugly “pictureshare” email and send my own pretty formatted email. I do all this through either an SMS text message or an email with an attached photo. Either way, the script strips the photo, title, and post text, which has all been done before. But in addition to that I add an optional formated section in the SMS/email that will extract an email address and send my own formatted HTML/multipart email to a friend that includes the photo and a link to the blog entry.
I was hoping to add a “private” option to it as well which will not post the blog publicly, but allow me to post it in a private section. I could also fix the script to put it in particular categories, but I just hardcoded in my “MoPho Post” category since almost all photos will go into that category.
I’m excited to give this technology to Phil Jansma and other missionaries. I’ll explain more about this later and why that’s so important. Obviously missionaries don’t have the need for cell phone photo blogging. But, although many times they don’t have access to the web (making uploading photos impossible), they do have access to email via satellite. I have no idea how they have access to one but no the other, but the point is that they could still update their blog and send communication to a list-serv about updates to their ministry. This facilitation of communication could help them stay in touch with their donors and supporters, hopefully in turn facilitating more donations to their ministry.
More later.. time for some meetings. Oh, and Sunday through Thursday I’ll be taking my first trip to New York City! I’m stoked, so be prepared to have some photoblogging coming out of the next week. I expect to take lots of photos.
