… We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard ….
Insight: Leadership is not necessary to do something easy. We might need a kick in the pants, but that’s not the same thing as leadership. If what we wanted to do were easy, we wouldn’t need leaders at all. We’d just do it, within our capacity, with our own direction and discipline. Leadership, however, is necessary to do something hard; something we don’t know how to do, don’t know why we should do it, or can’t do alone.
