Yesterday I took the wonderful opportunity to quit JellyBarn and go back to my first love of freelancing. After putting ten months of 50-85 hours per week into a company which has produced less than what I’ve seen groups of three produce in 2 months, I am happy to say I have the opportunity manage my own business once again.
Although this is a difficult time for Teresa and I to go through in terms of short term cash flow, we do know that God has always provided for us, and will continue to do so. I do have contracts already lined up and am very happy to have the freedom to start taking on new clients once again.
This means my pet projects like the SimpleViewer hack, WordPress plugins I dream about, and GoogleMaps mashups are back on the table.
If someone would like to contract my services, I am happy to hear from you.
I am also setting up a team of programmers and designers to help fulfill contracts for existing and future clients. If you know Ruby, Ajax, PHP, DHTML, or create stunning designs in your sleep, I’d love to hear from you. If you are interested in “community” building and have opinions and ideas on what that means and how it works, I’m waiting for you to write to me. If you have a honey glazed ham, I’m waiting for you to send it to me. If you wish you were a little bit taller, wish you were a baller, wish you had a girl - you would call her; If you wish you had a rabbit in a hat with a bat and a 64 Impala, bring back your video on MTV or VH1 cause it rocked!

Seth Godin posted a .pdf ebook called “Who’s There?“. I wanted to pinpoint some excerpts of the book. I do, however, fully recommend you read the whole thing. It’s free for goodness sake. These are all quotes directly from the ebook.
If you’re writing for strangers, that means you’re building a viral [...]

moofx must be one of the coolest things i’ve seen in a while. I know it’s a simple JavaScript library, but i can see some serious potential if combined with AJAX and some other tech out there.

TailRank looks interesting. I really want to watch this take off. I love the idea of bootstrapping to the max and this guy is making it happen with a pretty neat. I’m even considering funding it.

A friend of my brother-in-law’s has a site called smurfbite.com. It’s an interesting site. What intrigues me the most isn’t really the content, although somewhat funny and interesting. It’s the fact that it’s simple daily content I can view at a glance. Even moreso, it’s the fact it’s daily.
I’m [...]

My mom came up for a visit today. It’s been a while since we’ve had a really good visit. This time, I had to ask what her take on community was. How one is defined. How one exists or is sustained. How one grows. I learned a lot from this conversation [...]

Robert Deaton of SomethingUnpredictable.com (and I’m happy to say a JellyBarn contractor) has released a plugin called “no-ping-wait.” I am testing it with this post, and am excited about the possibility since my ping list is pretty huge.
I just wanted to also give kudos, personally, to Robert. That guy is absolutely [...]
