Seth Godin posted a .pdf ebook called “Who’s There?“. I wanted to pinpoint some excerpts of the book. I do, however, fully recommend you read the whole thing. It’s free for goodness sake. These are all quotes directly from the ebook.
- If you’re writing for strangers, that means you’re building a viral blog. The first principle is to make your entries shorter.
- Use images and tone and design and interface to make your point. Teach people gradually.
- Be specific.
- Be clear.
- Be intellectually rigorous and leave no wiggle room.
- The best blogs start conversations, they don’t control them.
- Blogs work when they are based on:
- Candor
- Urgency
- Timeliness
- Pithiness
- Controversy and
- sometimes Utility
What am I going to do with all these newfound nuggets? I’m going to start a company which has no CEO, no COO, in fact, no titles. If we get to do an interview, or someone wants to meet the CEO, we will all go for a visit. If there’s a magazine cover to be on, we’ll all have to fit. If we can’t fit, we’re too big of a company and we’ll have to downsize.
Don’t wait. Get small. Think big.
