Lawsuits are nothing new for Microsoft, and now they’ve got one more to contend with. A Chicago man has filed suit against the company on allegations that the new Xbox 360 contains design flaws that cause it to overheat and freeze up. Microsoft, as anyone might expect, continues to downplay the allegations, saying that only a “very small fraction” of the consoles have been affected by the problem.
We can’t corroborate claims from either side, but can say that our retail unit has shown no symptoms of the reported problems. In fact, we’ve yet to encounter a single defective system first-hand. Even so, some admittedly unscientific online surveys have suggested that the trouble may impact as many as 16% of retail units.
