These past few days PerfectSpace.com has gotten a few new little features.
First of all, we’ve had some requests to add an indicator on whether a rental property is furnished or not. This is a key selling (or renting, as the case may be) point for many property managers and landlords. So, we’ve updated our search engine to be able to handle furnished properties. A simple checkmark in the “Furnished” checkbox now displays something like this:
Second, since many cities like Bellingham, Seattle, and San Diego have some type of districts or neighborhoods within their cities, we added a “Neighborhood” text field. The neighborhood entered shows up in the list inside their respective cities. We haven’t made it a searchable field quite yet, but that could very easily be implemented if someone complains loud enough and bribes us with Mt. Dew.
Last, but certainly not least, we’ve implemented one of the more exciting features that I think will be more helpful to the potential renters visiting the site. The scoop is that you can now get email notifications when a rental comes up in your area that fits your criteria.
Here’s an example of the form:

Let’s say you’re a starving student, and you need cheap rental housing. You’re moving to San Diego so you know you’re going to want to limit the rent. Go to the “subscribe” page and enter your minimum and maximum rent, the minimum number of bedrooms you’d like, the type of housing you’d prefer, and what city and state you need housing in. Once something comes available that fits your needs, you’ll automatically be emailed a notification.
With that last feature, we’re trying to take the work out of searching a little more. Some people just don’t have the time to search all day for rentals. In other places, good rentals go quickly. This will give you both the advantage over other potential tenants as well as not have to continually check the site or your RSS feeds all the time. Let us help you.
Any other suggestions for cool features we could add?
