Usually, I like to promote just a few conferences a year I think would be worth people’s time, even if I can’t go. Currently, I’m not going to Web Directions North (yet). But, I think you should. Why? Straight from the website itself…
Web Directions North is a must for all designers, developers, product managers, and anyone who works with the web.
There’s no product placement, no waffle, and no panels; just renowned real world experts giving you insights, experience and expertise you’ll have to go a long way to get anywhere else, and the chance to meet, exchange ideas, and network with your peers from across Canada, North America and the World.
They’re not kidding either. Some things they’ll be covering are:

Not only will it be geeky to the max, it’ll be fun. Vancouver is a great place to be. It’s one of the coolest metro cities I’ve been to (and I’ve been to a lot in North America). Tons to do, a great night life, and Whistler/Blackcomb is outstanding for boarding and skiing.
The price is $895 CND, which is approximately $2 USD. No really, I think it translates to $792 USD or so (today). That’s a whopping $100 discount, practically, just for saying “about” instead of “a boot”! What a deal!

Alicia, I’d love to attend. I don’t know how many people it would take, but this particular post and link was for last year’s (2007). I haven’t taken a look at this year’s agenda yet, but it would certainly be fun.
