I Can’t Wait Anymore

I know, a blogger really shouldn’t change up his/her permalink structure like I’m doing.

I just can’t stand it anymore. I tried to follow what Google’s Matt Cutts says, but my traffic is killing me. And, I can’t wait for Google to figure out the new structure. It’s been long enough.

It started going down significantly because I changed my permalink structure. I’m not so happy about that, so I changed them back this morning.

I apologize to those of you who were distraught by this action. I won’t change them again without some blackmail or serious encouragement to do so by you.

  1. A few tips, A) the google sitemap plugin, with it, google re-spiders my site within about an hour of a post. B) the permalink redirect plugin, so you can safely change permalinks without worrying about the loss in traffic.

Yes, I have the sitemap plugin already, but for some reason they didn’t change the links, and that was after about 4 days. Maybe I’m not important enough. I mean, I wasn’t the whiz kid who finished the Zend PHP test in 15 minutes. ;)

As for B), I have yet to try that one. I’ll take a look around and give it a whirl. Thanks for the suggestion. I always like useful plugins.

  3. You’ll probably get more of an affect from the sitemap plugin in a few weeks when google does their next PageRank update. Currently, you’re marked down as a 0, but with the number of backlinks and indexed pages you should move up when they do the next PR update.

Awesome info. I didn’t know that. How do you find a site’s PageRank info?

  5. http://whatsmypagerank.com/ is one way.

There is also a nifty FireFox extension if you’re a FireFox user, that will display the pagerank of the current page in the bottom right.

Thanks Robert! Good to know. According to whatsmypagerank.com, I’m at a 3. I’ll keep testing and checking.

Oh, and FYI, if you follow the download for the firefox extension, there are some adult ads. So, be careful with that. Just FYI.

  7. That’s odd, I swear two minutes ago it was showing 0, and now it shows 3.
